I have only ever known that in Bella's fathers side there was autoimmune issues.
To what extent I do not know, and also no clue as to the MTHFR..but the immune issues, its there and prevalent. So we knew a susceptibility was there from the beginning and with that, I got more answers since we now know whats going on with me. I can understand and see how all this pre-disposition and susceptibilities play a huge part as to HOW our children get damaged and also WHY. Its all Epigenetics...
What exactly does Epigenetics mean?...
As Wikipedia defines it: In biology, and specifically genetics, epigenetics is the study of changes in gene expression or cellular phenotype, caused by mechanisms other than changes in the underlying DNA sequence – hence the name epi- (Greek: επί- over, above, outer) -genetics, some of which are heritable.[1]
It refers to functionally relevant modifications to the genome that do not involve a change in the nucleotide sequence. Examples of such modifications are DNA methylation and histone modification, both of which serve to regulate gene expression without altering the underlying DNA sequence. Gene expression can be controlled through the action of repressor proteins that attach to silencer regions of the DNA. These changes may remain through cell divisions for the remainder of the cell's life and may also last for multiple generations. However, there is no change in the underlying DNA sequence of the organism;[2] instead, non-genetic factors cause the organism's genes to behave (or "express themselves") differently.[3] There are objections to the use of the term epigenetic to describe chemical modification of histone, since it remains unclear whether or not histone modifications are heritable.[4]
One example of epigenetic changes in eukaryotic biology is the process of cellular differentiation. During morphogenesis, totipotentstem cells become the various pluripotent cell lines of the embryo, which in turn become fully differentiated cells. In other words, a single fertilized egg cell – the zygote – changes into the many cell types including neurons, muscle cells, epithelium, endothelium ofblood vessels, etc. as it continues to divide. It does so by activating some genes while inhibiting others.[5]
In 2011, it was demonstrated that the methylation of mRNA has a critical role in human energy homeostasis. The obesity associatedFTO gene is shown to be able to demethylate N6-methyladenosine in RNA. This opened the related field of RNA epigenetics.[6][7]
Or in English...
The development and maintenance of an organism is orchestrated by a set of chemical reactions that switch parts of the genome off and on at strategic times and locations. Epigenetics is the study of these reactions and the factors that influence them.
EPIGENETICS & THE ENVIRONMENT
The genome dynamically responds to the environment. Stress, diet, behavior, toxins and other factors activate chemical switches that regulate gene expression.
What is going on in your body and how it handles it..what is going on in the other parents body and how they handle it..when you procreate..THAT is what becomes of your off spring. Doctors don't test parents and they sure don't test babies when they are born for pre-disposition factors..vulnerabilities nor susceptibility. They don't look at how their immune systems are, if they are toxified if they are Methylating or have the MTHFR mutated genes, if the amino and folic acids are right. They test (sometimes) a bunch of other crap that has nothing to do with any of these important answers...In my opinion, these doctors should be testing both mom and dad for all of this BEFORE conception. Two toxic individuals can pro create a newly toxic individual and add more of the surroundings in utero, when born..its a recipe for disaster. If I knew before I had my children what was going on in my body, and my partners then it would of been more preventable. All of this can be managed and preventable but ONLY when we know exactly what our bodies are dealing with to begin with. And now our kiddos already here ones damaged or not, all should have tests run to see where they are at, everyone has issues these days. This world has become a very toxic place to live..and I am sure there are alot of us like me, whom have not a clue as to how toxic our bodies truly are, and how that effects our bodies and then passed on to our children. What the positive is...there are many things we CAN do to help it.
Surprise Surprise... Guess whom has a methylation problem? I do have the Mutated gene MTHFR as many as 40% of the population has this issue and I keep hearing that the mothers of autistic children do. Although my immune system is functioning fine my body is found to be over-toxified and with some viruses and bacteria. The antibodies were found for HSVI as I knew it would. I do get cold sores since I was 5 years old, and they show themselves with stress. Bella did not show this virus. I do also had antibodies HHV 6 which also presented in Bella. I had shown up positive for the Epstein Barr and shown some bacteria in my system. We may treat with antibiotics, but will first wait to see how my system responds to the protocol as it may all "correct itself" once system get jump started. Bella did NOT show these.
My Vitamins were abit off. B's some ok others not. D needs help iron too. My stool came back all OK which is great. The symptoms I been having he says has to do with my body being over-toxified and not being able to get rid of them. Liver fine, pancreas fine. My blood counts are up and down from previous testing. He says my red cells are shaped different. My white are low and my red are higher then previous.. there was just so much he got into but I believe this is the basics..
The main thing I learned was the methylation...mine is working at 55% and if we implement a few things, he believes all will fall into place and get systems up and running more effectively and efficiently..
Switching Off Disease With Methylation
The Master Switch
Methylation is critical for human survival. Think of it as a switch that turns genes on and off. Methylation regulates regular cell division, ensuring cells divide at a healthy, balanced rate. When methyl groups bind to certain DNA sequences in the genome, modifying the DNA’s function, this is known as epigenetics.
DNA methylation changes the gene expression pattern in cells so that the cells remember where they have been. For example, cells that are pancreatic islets during embryonic development remain pancreatic islets without needing continual signals that they need to remain islets. DNA methylation also inhibits expression of viral genes and other damaging elements woven into the genome of the host over time.
Normal development can’t continue without DNA methylation. That’s because methylation allows different cells to morph into different tissues even though they have the same genes. Throughout our lives, as we’re exposed to environmental and dietary changes, DNA methylation continues, which can lead to disease.
A reduced ability to synthesize DNA and RNA due to methylation cycle defects is particularly challenging for cells that already have difficulties meeting their needs for DNA and RNA synthesis under normal conditions. The cells that are most susceptible to these defects include bone marrow, lymphocytes, erythrocytes and neural tissue. The highest concentration of RNA in the body resides in the nervous system, which therefore has the highest methylation requirement. If methylation isn’t progressing properly, neither is cell synthesis, making it nearly impossible to recover from tissue damage.

So this is what is going on in MY body.
The last post was all about Sabrina, so please do look back
and check it out HERE.
What I LOVE about this doctor is that he researches this stuff, your results. He explains it all to you and presents it so you can comprehend as well as with the information you need to understand them. He IS what a "White Coat" SHOULD be! A great medical doctor and I am so thankful to have him as ours. Here is the protocol he recommended for me..
I will be starting up on the vitamins I am deficient in. Also the Lysine he recommended. I am also going to be starting, along with Sabrina the methyal B-12 shots. I am going to try to get more proteins into my diet as well. As for the IV Myers cocktail ( it is an IV blend of vitamins when not absorbed well through the gut) as for right now, I may hold out. but still unsure. I am very overwhelmed with the information I received today and still processing it. Also, not to mention the fact that Bella decided to not behave while we were there. She just was not having it. I am sure I probably left out a few things, but assure you the most important ones shared. I am hoping that sharing with all of you our stories it will help you all, and encourage you all also to get these types of testing done. Now our doc is a MAPS doc and if you can find one where you live, would be the ideal way to go. I also wanted to share that Bella's follow up went well. She is to continue on the past protocol except now adding the B complex back to it. And also changing up the nasal spray of methyal B-12 to the shots. Since January she has grown another inch and gained 5 lbs. He says she is definitely going in the right direction and her body is now playing 'catch up" with all the growing she has lost out on due to not knowing all this for so long, and not having that right support for her body. So the next big step as presented in last Blog post about Bella...is ...DETOX! Getting her body as well as my body "de-junked' and I am definitely getting Bella into the homeotoxicologist before I , but I will be following along when money allows. That is one of the hardest part of recovery. Knowing what needs to be done, but not having the funds to do them. So frustrating!
But I know I have to figure this out. Like the doctor said. I have to take care of MYSELF IF I am going to be-able to be around to take care of my girl. And that is exactly right. I don't plan on going anywhere anytime soon. I can't.... my child depends on me and I am just not done yet being the Warrior! ;0)
So what did we learn today? That our children can be pre-dispositioned by US for weaknesses...and...those weakness can be run over by environmental toxin overloads...which can cause damage. And how it presents itself depends on the Epigenetics of the parents..
NOT a gene you are born with like down syndrome or fragile X ,
but a predisposition..a weakened link in the genetic makeup of those parents bodies ...
For my child...
her father came from autoimmune issues, her mom a methylation/detox problems... her system was overridden by the toxins in the vaccines she received as a child which caused brain, gut, immune and metabolic injuries aka Autism...
I hope sharing this helps you to find your answers....
God Bless!
